(Sort of like Kevin Smith on Jersey Girl.) And I guess that's fair, because Millennium Actress obviously couldn't pay the bills in either country, so Kon had to tough it out by directing a sitcom. And I guess that would be ok if it wasn't just him re-writing Lain by channeling Rashomon. Anyway, now that he's more established, he can ideally do what he really wants.

Very interesting. Thanks for the information. Now I see why you said your original comments.

Describing Paranoia Agent as a sitcom is a disservice to the show. If sitcom elements pop up, it's because Paranoia Agent is more satire than anything else. The rest of the series is all over the map stylistically, which is what I enjoyed most about the series - Kon's having a field day with a project that lets him take on a bunch of different targets.

A+ MATERIAL INDEED!! AYYYEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIII EIIIEEEAYYEEEEEE!!!

I thought episode 5 was great. It may have been a derivative of MA, but you know what? It's still more inventive and creative than 90% of the anime out there. Satoshi pushes the bounds and is always trying to do something that hasn't been done as for as anime storytelling goes. I had a blast with ep 5.

Episode 6 gave me the chills. Deep deep chills. Damn good.
Episode 7 gave me more chills. Especially towards the end.

This show is brilliant. In fact brilliant isn't even a strong enough word. This is 'A+' anime. I actually wish that Satoshi Kon will do more TV series. So far, this is the BEST 13 episode anime I have ever seen. I hope he does more, as I think with the extra time he's able to create a stronger story.
