Default AoD Review: Air Master Vol. #2

Review

[ QUOTE ]
In Summary:
At times I feel like I'm finding this show more enjoyable than I should but the characters are just so spot on with how they handle everything and react, the fights are really fun to watch and I'm getting a kick out of the designs and overall brutality of the show. If it wasn't for the completely stupid bad technical decisions made here from the chapter stops to the ADR script being used, this would be a release that would have fans of the show pushing it very hard on others to check out. For fighting fans, this is a great show so far and it's just captivated with its style and feel. I hope that things get fixed going forward at least so that it can be even more enjoyable and I can feel less guilty for enjoying what I do get out of it.

I want to get this so much... but I refuse to because of the technical "issues". I guess it's just my loss...

Pretty much the same with me. They really need to reseach the R1 market before pulling a DVD release out of the ass . I was wondering, if this release goes bad, will Geneon have to suffer as well. I'd hate to see them go down due to a company's apparent laziness.

Me three...if it weren't for all the technical issues, I'd be buying this to watch Julietta being his insane self and, of course, to watch Maki kicking ass. Airmaster would be my guilty pleasure if it were released properly.

I love this volume, the fights with Julietta just rock. And I'm with you, I feel like I enjoy this show WAY more than I should, but it's just too much damn fun.

"Maybe you were good once. Maybe you even saved a puppy from freezing to death, good for you. But today I say you die". I had to replay Julietta roundhousing the kogals about 50 times over.

For those wondering, I've found the dub to be pretty solid. Whoever did Julietta in this volume rocked. Because of the good job, I'm able to skip the bad subs. Like with other Toei releases, the problems did not detract from me enjoying the show, but more just made me roll my eyes on a few occassions. If Toei would just these SIMPLE problems, they'd have a couple good selling series on their hands.

Air Master definitely fills the "guilty pleasure" category for me. Then, compound it by the technical craptasticness of the release, it's enough to make me feel dirty, even. It's so wrong, yet it's so good!!

This volume kicked it up a notch by introducing my favorite character; the so-insane yet oh-so-cool Julietta Sakamoto. The man needs to come back and give Maki a serious ass-whoopin'!

My thoughts exactly. This crap job of a release is starting to make me think Dreamworks did better with GitS 2. The guys at Toei really need to research the R1 market. These guys are #1 in terrible releases (#2 being Urban Vision, a.k.a. "the studio that never releases anything").

AND PLEASE, TOEI, USE A DUB STUDIO THAT WE'RE FOND OF, NOT A STUDIO THAT'S DONE ONE ANIME (and gave it a crap dub at that). IF YOU'RE GOING TO USE CANADA TALENT, GO TO OCEAN (hell, I'd even listen to Blue Water).

I, for one, do not feel guilty about liking Airmaster thus I can't list it as a guilty pleasure.

I'd listen to the dub for this show first before making that statement. It's a good dub. No, it is not 'A' material by any means, but I found it had much more good points than bad. I wouldn't write off a dub if you've never heard it.

This is a very dumb show. But for some reason...I like it. I really have no idea why, but its fun to watch.
Even my wife enjoyed the bits she saw from it. I just hope the get their act together for volumes 3+.
