Default Another R.O.D TV set

Well, it looks like Geneon is giving you the choice of getting the whole set in the Artbox or the Book .
Nice, if kinda odd, move there.

uh...huh. Well, good thing I haven't gotten any of the DVDs yet. I'll get the art-box version.

Although with all the shrinking shelf-space crap going on, it's rather odd for a company to put out TWO complete box sets for the same series, unless they plan one an online exclusive.

Yeah. Maybe the book version for B&M and the boxed one for online. Or maybe they'll give the B&M chains the choice.

Cool. I'd choose the art box though.
And... what the hell Geneon. Chargining $200 when you stripped these 7 discs of their covers, cases, inserts, and such.

What the hell.

That's exactly what I was going to say. . .that's a hell of a lot of cash for just the discs.

Well Geneon is also STILL charging $200 MSRP for the Fushigi Yugi boxed sets.
They only have 4 discs... I don't care if they each have 26 episodes. It's still 4 discs. Put the 26 eps on 7 or 8 discs, then it'd seem reasonable.

Eh, it'll still move quite a few units, I'd wager. They seem to be making a killing from the popularity of this one series.

If I were picking up the show, I'd still go with the book design. It's so stylish!

Uh, they are. And for less than the original box sets.

That said, I don't see the problem. It's the whole series in the box on seven discs. So that's what you pay for - the series, not the covers. Of course, I've thrown all that junk away, except the inserts. I hate the artwork for this series. And are you sure the inserts aren't in the book box set? It would actually be a shame to lose those.

Can someone please give a clear explanation of the differences between the two R.O.D. boxsets? Does the second one come with an extra "novel" or something? If so, why would it have the same price as the first boxset?

I mean if the Fushigi Yugi box sets were 7-8 discs each. 4 discs for $200 is not right. No matter how much content is on the disc. Same can go for Tenchi Muyo! OVA which is 3 discs for $120.

And the 8 individual Fushigi Yugi discs are pointlessly stripped of extras.
