Default AoD Review: Fighting Spirit Vol. #7

Review

[ QUOTE ]
In Summary:
It does happen with a few series but Ippo is one of those that during it and afterwards you just feel good about the entire experience. From the fights to the personal stuff, it's all very uplifting and enjoyable even when things look the bleakest. It's a rare show that can entertain so well and provide that feeling and to provide it so consistently over seven volumes so far. With thirty five episodes of the show under our belts now this has been one of the best things I've seen in recent years and it only looks to be getting better. Very recommended.

It's like I wanna get this series because I want to see more anime like this come to these shores but at the same time it's hard to justify the purchase when the manga goes beyond it.

Decisions, decisions...

But.. will the manga ever come over here? As many know my side is this is one of the best shows I've seen in a LONG LONG time. I enjoy everything about it. I can't wait to get my copy, even though I've seen the whole series, I alwasy go back and re-watch the previous dvds I have and still enjoy it. GET IPPO!!!!

I'm still at volume 5 here. Decided to wait until at least 3 volumes were released before getting the next batch, as the wait between volumes is too long.

By the way, has the final volume count been decided yet? AOD listing says 15 but I think I read somewhere (Geneon Lounge?) that it would be 17 including all the extra episodes.

I would think that volumes 1-15 would cover eps 1-75, volume 16 would be episode 76 and the OVA, and volume 17 would be the movie.

Or they could be really evil and put ep 75 on volume 16 to make sure more people buy it. Episode 75 is the climax of the series.

Whoa! *Gets excited* So is this an actual movie that continues from the TV series instead of a retelling?

The fact that the manga continues the story beyond the anime should have no influence on whether you pick up the dvds or not. The anime series doesn't have a cliffhanger ending so you can watch the anime and never reading the manga that follows it without feeling like you are missing something. If not for my boyfriend shoving the manga into my hands a few weeks ago, I would have stopped with the anime (and not been tempted to buy all the manga that's out ). The story and characters are so good and the anime is so well done, everyone I've recommended it to has loved it, so I think the expense for the anime is well worth it.
