Default AoD Review: Shura no Toki Vol. #6

Review

Reviewer: Chris Beveridge

[ QUOTE ]
In Summary:
Shura no Toki is a series that I can recommend easily to both hardcore fighting show fans as well as those that haven't had much interest in it. The show is very accessible and with it moving across several hundred years worth of periods in the country, it highlights the changes nicely and incorporates it well into the story and the reasoning behind their motives and methods. The animation isn't the most beautiful out there but the character designs have a great feel to them and with some of the most fluid and engaging hand to hand fight scenes done in the last couple of years, it's something that can draw new people into the fold. Whether in collected form or singles, Shura no Toki is a series that should not be passed up.

I just got rid of my volume 1 + box. I'm going to pick it up as a collection. The first volume was very promising so I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

Sleeper Hit of 2005. This was really a fun little show. Unfortunately I couldn't buy this as it was coming out, too much other stuff that costs too much, so I stuck with the 'Flix. But if there is ever a cheap collection coming out in the future (cheaper than $140MSRP), I'm all over it.

Same here - this was a really fun show, that had a lot of attention to detail where the martial arts were concerned. I wish there was more, too...

Could always bug Media Blasters for the manga. The recently released 240pg 4-6 format would look really nice I bet.

This volume was great even though I knew how it was going to end up. This was a refreshing style of storytelling that had an addicting quality to it that most of the other shows I've seen just don't have, so of course, I bought this as it came out. For me, the best show I've seen that was completed in 2005 in terms of overall enjoyment. If MB does get the manga, I'll be all over that also.
