Default AoD Review: Kodocha Vol. #3

Review

Reviewer: Chris Beveridge

[ QUOTE ]
In Summary:
Across the four episodes there is a lot of things going on as the kids find themselves on the cusp of the age where a lot of things in life start moving away from the dreaminess of childhood into the much colder and harsher realities of adulthood. What makes this show so enjoyable is the great balance that Daichi brings to the work by knowing exactly what elements from the manga work in bringing out the zany nature of Sana and the way she lives and mixing it with the equally mature storylines with an interesting cast. While the kids do act older than real kids would be, the end result is a very funny and very touching show that turns on a dime when you least expect it. Kodocha isn't for everyone but I cannot recommend it enough.

My copy of this shipped out late last week, so I'm really hoping that it arrives tomorrow. Shoujo crack at its finiest - I really hope sales on this are fantastic.

Are there Japanese cast credits listed in English yet?
IIRC they were absent from volumes 1 & 2.

The Japanese cast is not credited in this volume.

The episodes on this disc made me appreciate Sana's mom more and her antics/hats are still amusing. It is refreshing to see some characters get developed and the changes reflect their outlook on life. Great stuff all around.

Thanks. Perhaps in a later volume, if its still not done, an explanation could be added why, as for the other things.

Simply put, the licensors didn't give any list of credits to FUNimation to use.

Checking out the trailer for the next disc, I noticed that some of the video looked almost fansub quality. That isn't going to be how the next episodes look I hope.

FINALLY!!!

The biggest mystery about Kodocha is answered in this volume!

Where does that chipmunk poop?

All kidding aside, Kodocha seems to get better with each passing volume. As funny as the human characters are, I think Babbit really steals the show.

Especially in episode 11 when Akito's father went face down in his sushi, and Babbit had one eye bulging out of his head. It could have been a serious scene, but I nearly pissed myself laughing! Then in episode 12 when he was relaxing with a spot of tea, and the little Babbit popped in.

I'm so glad I watched this tonight instead of waiting. After a Hellish day at work, Sana & Co. provided a pleasent pick me up.
