Stand Alone Complex Official Logs
Those things are so frickin' amazing, especially with all the juicy info fully translated. We almost never get these sort of releases so it was a big surprise to me. |

Kodomo no Omocha is the first title that comes in mind. The release is not perfect (lack of first opening, muted next episode previews) but I'm really glad FUNimation got it.

Saint Seiya. Even though it's licensed I'm still scared for it

Neo Tokyo. I knew Macek could get the rights, but I didn't think anyone had enough confidence in its sales potential. I was also wondering if UV would ever release anything new, let alone The Professional: Golgo 13. Plus I'd given up on the Ghibli movies for a while until Spirited Away won an Oscar.

Kodocha, Piano, Cardcaptor Sakura, Princess Tutu...
<insert any shoujo anime released in R1 here> I would bet on any old mecha show to be licensed over any shoujo show any day of the week. And that fact saddens me.

"Maison Ikkoku," "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon" seasons 1&2 uncut, and "Princess Tutu".
Two of those got announced in 2003(well, one did a couple years earlier but it tooks its sweet ass time coming. ) and threw me for a loop. And Tutu did the same for me back in 2004.

Well there's Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar which got licensed shortly after I started to consider it R2. I had no real hope for it to be licensed and thus I was happy over the idea of it being released here. In general there were quite a few series I was about to consider R2 that got licensed.
The one that ultimately stands out for me is Asagiri no Miko. Sometime late in 2004, I was completely convinced that no one would ever license the series. Thus I posted a topic asking if I should just get it R2 or give it more time to be licensed. Some suggested to wait and someone even figured that it would probably be licensed by Media Blasters. So I planned to wait until December of that year. So yeah Ax 2004 comes up and it's licensed. Ultimately being released here under the name "Shrine of the Morning Mist".
