Paradise Kiss Act.1 Special Edition

This baby just arrived today.

This is my first-ever R2. So I thought I'd just give out a few of my thoughts...

First off - WOW. This package was beautiful. Although not really a box, the DVDs were packaged in an enclosed plastic slipcover, which looks like it can fit 4 more DVD discs (Act. 2 and 3, Special Editions).

Nice little blue ParaKiss-logo rose inside an additional plastic slipcase. I'm not exactly sure how to open it... so I'll just leave it on display as-is.

There's an envelope-like picture frame which says "from Ai Yazawa" on the outside. When you open it, it's a nice color artpiece by Ai Yazawa. I'm not sure if there's different art pieces for each copy, but the picture is of George and Yukari getting it on.

There's also a high-quality artbook. Can't read the Japanese, but there's some great line work in there and some color anime images. Along with screen shot galleries and what appear to be interviews. Some information on the soundtrack also. Only gripe about the book is that it's bound on the side, and not stapled, so I had to be very careful not to make any noticable bends on the bind...

Wow. What's up with these cases? They're like bigger CD Jewel cases... Almost didn't know how to open them either... [img]/images/graemlins/sweat000.gif[/img]

Curious about the video quality though. Each episode appeared to have constant noise, like what you'd see on film at a movie theater, but maybe it's because I'm watching it on my PC...

The extras disc is pretty minimal. To the point that I'm surprised they used a regular DVD disc for it when it's only got like... 20-30 minutes of stuff on it (of the two featurettes, I've seen one, which looked like a photo shoot, and some behind-the-scenes with Yukari's VA).

Anyways, it was still pretty neat. Looking forward to more R2s. [img]/images/graemlins/happy.gif[/img]

Awesome, sounds like an incredible package - I'm not getting mine until next month, though.

Anyone know what is so special about the Special Edition for disc 2?

I'm guessing it also comes with an additional second disc.
There's room for 6 of those CD-type cases in the plastic slipcase, and since there are 3 volumes, I'm guessing each special edition has two discs.
