Any anime series that leaves a sour taste in your mouth?

Last night, I watched the first episode of a newly-aired anime series (which I will not name), but quickly lost interest within minutes after a main character is unjustly mistreated by a heartless adult bully. Because I could not tolerate cruel mistreatment (I am quite sensitive on that subject), I stopped watching, and it brought a sour taste in my mouth for several hours. Some anime series are enjoyable to watch, but some I could not tolerate because of the themes, especially those that depict the cruelity of humans to humans.

Are there any recent or past anime series that leaves a sour taste in your mouth?

I think the only anime to make me physcially ill is End of Evangelion. For reasons I care not to elaborate at the moment.

The ending to Spiral left a bad taste in my mouth, but of disappointment rather than moral/ethical/emotional displeasure. I still bought it anyway though (it's a really good show) and while the "ending" is still utter crap *as an ending*, it seemed a lot better this time around *as an episode*.

Hmm, what else... It's hard to say since I tend to put bad shows out of my mind. Well, ok, what I saw of Eiken (half an ep was all I could stand) was pretty horrid, but I can't say it really offended me. And it didn't "let me down" because who goes into that show with any serious expecations?

Loveless. I have a low tolerance for loli and shota, and I couldn't deal with the creepy pedophile in the lead role. It was just... disturbing. Shame, too, because there's a great little shoujo-ai side story thrown into the middle of it for a few episodes, and I liked the concept of the show, along with all the other pairs. I just wish I hadn't had to watch 7 horrible episodes while trying to get to the shoujo-ai.

End of Evangelion left a very sour taste in my mouth because of its undoing of what makes the series so good.

Gantz, Elfen Lied, Naruto and Love Hina all also have that effect. Gantz and Elfen Lied for the excessive use of blood but also because both have good premises that are executed very very poorly.

Naruto and Love Hina (what I have seen of both) for not bringing anything new to their respective genres. I find they are both overflowing in cliches so I didn't really give them a second thought...

Love Hina. Sticktly for the beatings he took for no reason. It quite pissed me off rather than made me laugh. I did't see the humor in it. A few times he may have deserved it, but she beat him constantly for no reason.

Interesting topic, but you should name the series if you're going to ask others for theirs. I can't think of a anime that has made me turn it off in disgust or never watch it again due to its effects. While I do have a "sour taste" in my mouth due to some series endings or pairings, I find that I feel that way because I like and care about the show/characters.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the fanservice genre(When it's the sole reason for watching the show ala Eiken). While I can respect peoples personal taste, I find it irritating when someone will warn you, or blast a show because they had a horrible experience with it.

That's part of the reason I grew to hate Naru in Love Hina. I still say it's brain damage that <span style='color:#dddddd;background:#dddddd'>caused Keitaro to like Naru</span>
