Default AoD Review: Daphne in the Brilliant Blue Vol. #6

Series

[ QUOTE ]
In Summary:
Daphne in the Brilliant Blue, a series whose name continues to get slowly revealed over the course of it, has a good pair of episodes here as it takes its lead character back to the beginning of things as she finds herself seemingly without friends, money or prospects. Going back to what she was like at the end of the first episode is amusing since it shows that some things don't change but at the same time you can see what parts of her have changed along the way. We get a lot of new information here that helps to really crystallize events and some of what's been going on in the background for the last several episodes while setting it up for the last couple that will bring it all to conclusion. Daphne's always been a bit uneven at times and these episodes really aren't any different but there's just more meat to it this time which helps a lot.

I know alot of people passed on this one because of the costume designs (or lack thereof...) but if you can past that silly little bit of the show, it's actually been a pretty fun and entertaining ride. Every disc has been one of the first I watched every time it came in. This disc, in particular, was pretty good as it finally gave us Maia's complete background. I agree with Chris, the jump over to the OVA, despite how much fun it was, was pretty jarring and I wish they had just released this show on 6 discs instead of 7, but it's still a very solid release.

If you thought this disc was good, the last one will literally move you to tears. I give this one an "A". Possibly "A+++" for the coming one.

After watching the first two episodes on this disc, I just couldn't watch the OVA, the transition was just...jarring.

I kinda wish I'd waited till the final disc came out before I watched this, but oh well.

Good series though, enjoying it far more than I really thought I would.
