Default How is Now and Then Here and There?

Is it worth getting? I see the box set is pretty cheap.

Depressing, but good. Well, that's what I got from the two episodes on the sampler I had a few months ago

Absolutely amazing. I can't say any more without sounding like a rabid fanboy, or giving something away about the series. And for the price you can pick it up for now, there is no reason to miss it. I paid twice what it retails for now, and I'd pay more than that if I had to.

This show is very good. I don't like violence for violence sake, and this show is very violent, but it is violence with consequences. It has depressingly realistic child soldiers and lots of death, doom, and destruction although it manages to end on a somewhat positive note.

Yes, terrific little series. Quite serious and sad, but definitely a show I think everyone should see at least once.

A very strong drama that doesn't waste any time in telling it's story over 13 episodes.
The setting is pretty brutal and bleak, and there's no backing away from some of the more difficult situations the characters are presented with in the show. But through all this there's still room for hope, even if one of the main characters (Shu) boundless and dauntless optimism seems a little too invincible considering the grittiness of the world he finds himself in.
It's a dark classic, and most definitely worth getting.

I'm with everybody else on this one. Definitely recommended. In fact, it used to be on that favorites list down there before I trimmed it back a little.

Highly recommended. Ranks in my Top 5 all time. A little dark, and definately not for some people, but what a story. The Best purchase ($28) I made last year, bar none.

I got this for $9.98 from like overstock.com or some odd site like that (mispriced I assume) almost a year ago.

Great show. It has alot of brutality. And can be very depressing as well, I mean some things that happen to the characters. It's well worth the price, and if it was only offered at $60 it'd still be worth it.

If you love shows that have extremely bleak circumstances... or the inspiration of perseverance through hopeless situations, this show is it.
