After going on another "serious" anime stint, I need to lighten up. And there is nothing better than a festivial episode. Anyone got recommendations for great festival episodes?

Any of the three Tenchi festival episodes should do the trick. There are also sports fest and culture fest episodes in Azumanga Daioh. And practically every episode of Mahoromatic centers around one holiday or another, so you can take your pick. Finally, if you're desperate, Hand Maid May also has a festival episode.

I always thought the festival episode in Generator Gawl was pretty funny.

Tenchi in Tokyo has a great two-parter festival episode.
The first episode is about Tenchi and his classmates getting ready for the festival, and the alien girlfriends going to Tokyo, to mess it up. The second episode is more of the actual festival and includes the whole legendary kiss thing. Heart-breaking ensures!

The Kimagure Orange Road festival episode is a good one. I don't remember which volume it's on though.
