Comic-Con 2006 Hirameki Panel News

"Hirameki made the following announcements today at their NY Comic-Con Panel:

- Their next Anime Play Interactive Visual Novel PC Game, Animamundi: Dark Alchemist has been delayed to May 2006. Apparently the reason for the delay is because the ESRB has been giving Hirameki a hard time on the game's rating.

- Piece of Wonder will be released in June 2006.

- Because the company wishes to now focus only on PC games, EXODUS Guilty Vol. 2 -Past- and EXODUS Guilty Vol. 3 -Future- will be Hirameki's final Anime Play DVD Game titles.

- Hirameki has no plans to release any 18+ titles in North America. "

Hmm, interesting. I still wish that Hirameki would bring something like Tsukihime over. Or hell, do a cross promotion with Geneon over the Fate/Stay Night game. While both have sex scenes in them, I dunno heh.

Kudos to Hirameki for sticking with the PC format. I find the DVD player platform less suited to interactive games.

Now if they would only consider re-releasing Hourglass of Summer on the PC. The DVD interface is the only major problem with the game in North America - moving it to a PC would an improvement.

If any game has sex in it, Hirameki is pretty much not interested. They seem to be going for the renai genre.

Secondly, Type-Moon (the folks behind Tsukihime & Fate/Stay Night) has gone commercial. If they are breaking pc sales records left and right in Japan, why would they need to do a cross promotion in a foreign market? In my view, they're going to focus on releasing more games for the Japanese market, and not give a thought to the U.S. market.

I second this idea. Hourglass is one of Hirameki's best sellers, and I do think that people (i.e. fans of the dvd version of Hourglass) would double dip for the PC version as well. You should consider posting the suggestion at Hirameki's bbs. [img]/images/graemlins/happy.gif[/img]

LOL I laughed so hard when I read that. Anyways, they don't want to release adult games because they want more retailers (like best buy) to carry their stuff so they can go mainstream. BTW, Gamespot will supposedly have the Animamundi review up on March 1st. They received the review copy sometime in Feb. but I do wonder if the delay might push back the review though. After I saw the OP movie for the game I really had lost any interest I had in the game to tell you the truth but the reviewers impression was that the story is good and she's hooked on the game. I'll wait for more opinions I guess.

And I would defintiely double dip for a PC version of Hourglass of Summer (even if it's without the H-scenes). I'll be sure to ask Hirameki if they have plans to re-release some of their DVD titles on PC when I get the chance.

I only have one thing I want to clear up, what does this mean for 18+ games that have non-18+ versions? I don't know about the rest of you but I want Kanon and Air brought over here stat!
