Default 'Captain Tsubasa' to air on national TV in Iraq

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/national...05TDY02003.htm

[ QUOTE ]
Twenty-six Ground Self-Defense Force water tankers in Samawah, southern Iraq, have been decorated with giant decals of Tsubasa to advise Iraqi children of Japan's latest reconstruction project.

I think that this is just so totally cool. Showing the children of Iraq a new form of entertainment and hopefully, if only a little, promoting a positive relationship between Iraq and Japan. Clearly, anime is the next step to world peace.

Cool. Good that the JSDF is helping to spread anime.

Yes, it's great. It's also... I dunno, I can certainly imagine that the US would provide children's TV programming (they probably do) but would they paint their vehicles with its logos? Not sure

Doubt it'll do much to appease the opposition forces or extremists, though. If it achieves any publicity at all within the country it could even become a target, so we can look forward to scenes of Tsubasa-adorned fragments of smoking wreckage before too long. Maybe I'm cynical...
