Default Animated Classics of Japanese Literature?

I was shopping around a local anime store and I saw a few VHS editions of this show. What's it about? And is it any good?

Also, is it available on DVD at all?

It is, under CPM's brief "Authentic Anime" label. I'm pretty sure they've been reduced to $10 a pop as well.

Yep, they're 9.99 MSRP. I picked them up at a TRSI sale a while back for a little over $5.

They're on my backlog though, so I haven't seen them yet. Sorry.

That's right!

Check out CPM Electronic Press Kit for July last year where the re-pricing was announced.

They are all very good, some episodes are exceptional.

It was originally a tv series of 35 episodes but CPM has only released around 12 episodes. I would love to see a complete collection boxset.

CPM did release Tale of Genji on VHS, but whether its a separate title or party od ACoJL, I can't remember. Like to have it on DVD (& also the new ToG manga currently being published)

Genji was released under the Central Park Media label, but nothing on my VHS copy indicates that it was a part of a series. ANN lists it as a theatrical movie from December 1987, a year after the last episode of Animated Classics aired.

Tenchi Muyo series 3 has ended. Only 12 more years until series 4.
