[/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] ICv2 Said: Naruto Tops TV Anime DVDs Uncut Episode in Shonen Jump Special Edition available too April 12, 2006 The first volume of Viz's Naruto DVD made it to #3 on the Neilson Video Scan list of anime best-sellers in its first week of release. The Cartoon Network English-dubbed version of Naruto only trailed two recently released anime features, Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle and My Neighbor Totoro, which means that Naruto was the highest ranking episodic anime release. Viz's TV advertising campaign for Naruto hit the airwaves during the DVD's second week of release and a Viz spokesperson told ICv2 that initial orders for the second Naruto DVD (due out on May 30th) were higher than they were for the first disk. Viz has also announced that subscribers to Shonen Jump will receive a free DVD containing the first episode of the "uncut" Naruto anime with the July issue of Shonen Jump. Viz will release an uncut version of Naruto on July 4th in a Box Set (MSRP $49.98) containing the first 13 episodes of the series with both English and Japanese (with optional English subtitles) soundtracks. The uncut box set will also include storyboards booklet, which will compare storyboards to the finished animation. In addition Viz will release a Special Edition of the Uncut Naruto Box Set (MSRP $69.98) that will contain a Naruto headband and wrist cuff. [/ QUOTE ] So the cut DVD's are kickin ass and taking names |

Neat but unsuprising, considering the show's popularity.

Viz was right on the money picking up Naruto. I was tellng people long before it was announced that whoever picked it up would have a license to print money. It's the new DBZ.

I'm very glad they're selling a lot, because that's pretty much why we're getting the uncut discs for abour $10 a disc with online discounts, I'd bet. Good for Viz, they know what they're doing.

Oooh, I wonder what the quality for the headband will be. If it's good and has a metal plate, then this is rather convenient for anyone that doesn't have a headband yet (like myself. I think I'm the only one out of my friends that doesn't have one yet, except for TJ, but he lost his).

Perhaps it will be the new Pokémon as well, and spur a revival in the licensed anime industry.

It could simply be that, like Pokemon, many kids will be content with that, and not venture into the R1 market. Although one hopes that it leads to more anime fans, hence more licenses, and more shows.
