Del Rey Manga Gets Associate Publisher
And Director of Licensing and Acquisitions April 25, 2006 Dallas Middaugh has been promoted to Associate Publisher of Del Rey Manga (from Director of Manga, see "Del Rey Announces Manga Line"), and will relocate from Los Angeles to New York to take the position. Middaugh had been instrumental in Del Rey's growth in the manga business, and has been with Del Rey manga since the imprint's launch in 2003. He came to Del Rey from Viz, so has strong roots in the manga business. Del Rey has added Mutsumi Miyazaki to its manga team as Director of Licensing and Acquisitions; she will report to Middaugh. Miyazaki was most recently Acquisitions Manager at Tokyopop. She will be charged with continuing to develop Del Rey's relationship with Kodansha, as well as being involved with "identifying and acquiring some of the hottest manga from Japan." ICV2.com

I read it every day (several times a day in fact!)

According to rumor, editors change publishers all of the time in the business. I'm surprised there isn't more publisher jumping in the manga industry -- but I guess that since the manga publishers are all spread out over the U.S., it isn't as easy as book publishing where everyone is concentrated in NYC. |
