Are the initial volumes from Ikkitousen (Battle Vixens) visually censored? I noticed that the later volumes are definitely NOT censored and are labeled as 18+.
I was going to head over to yesasia and order the first volume of the japanese Ikkitousen to verify but perhaps you guys can save me some money |

i am not buying BV since i dont like the translation... however given what i know, read and heard. The art for BV inside is unaltered, the cover does have the funky serpent wrapping around the cover to coverup certain places. The translation... well more of an adaptation is crap thou.
If you dont mind the TP adaptation then go for it if all you care about is the art inside. I'd however would just import the JP version, if I could read japanese or I'd just import it for the art, I dont want to support a crappy translation job. That could give em ideas to send more titles out to hacks who want to put their own stamp on a work. |

Thanks so much!
I've never read the scanlation (if even one exists), so hopefully I won't mind the translation too much. Thanks again. |

Some volumes were rated OT (Older Teen) while others were M (Mature); not sure why they varied like that, as they seemed to have the same "content". To my knowledge, however, nothing was censored. There's some nipple shots and a few bare butts, so we don't have a Tenjo Tenge CMX on our hands or anything.
Also, the translation didn't really bother me. Sure it may be filled with irrelevant humor that probably wasn't there in the original, but then again, the Ikki Tousen anime wasn't exactly the most deadly serious series either. There were plenty of moments with comedy in it (though to be fair, they DID make Koukin more of a perv than in the anime). |

I got the Japanese version before TP licensed it and i buying the TP release. |

I did a comparison some months ago between the TP volumes and the original JP volumes and found no censoring at all. I believe I checked the first three volumes.
Of course, as you know, the translation is liberal to say the least. There used to be some good sources online for comparitive purposes if you were interested in what was rewritten, but I forget the URLs. robert

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, the old "We can put that stuff inside, but we can't dare put it on the cover" bit. Wish they could at least include the original artwork on color page inside (or the inside cover like the color images on the backs of the covers for AI Yori Aoshi)). Ai Yori Aoyshi vol 13 had a hot springs Polaroid on the back cover that was so fogged up, it was pointless to use. Would have been better to use one of the SD images from the inside covers and put the unmolested Polaroid on the inside cover. If I didn't already have that untouched photo in an artbook, I'd be really bummed.

I can see some fog being on the Japanese v13, but it just seemed excessive to have been that way on the Japanese volume. Ah well...

[/ QUOTE ] I have volume 1-6 with the OT rating and then 7+8 which are M. From looking round in the shops, it seems as though Tokyopop went back in later editions and made all of the volumes M rated. Remote also started with the lower rating and went up later on down the line. Now all of the volumes carry the 'M'. |
