Another brief sale from TRSI, so: another recommendations thread. This time for DrMaster.
My favorite DrMaster title is definitely Iron Wok Jan, the nineteenth volume of which is scheduled to come out this month. I thought that the series hit kind of a lull back in the teens, but the last couple of volumes have been as good as the series has ever been. Cooking meet shonen sports manga. High School Girls is also a favorite. According to the GN Comparison chart, there should be a seventh volume coming over eventually, but it's not up for preorder yet, and it's been a long time since #6. I also like Maniac Road and Pretty Maniacs, and if they ever publish a second volume of Indian Summer, I will so be on it. For those that have read it, how's the Stellvia manga?

I would have recommended Crayon Shin Chan and Goku, but they're OOP.

I second the High School Girls recomendation. Good raunchy fun. Volume 7 is due out in November according to the reps at their panel at Fanimecon. Since they've caught up with the Japanese releases, now begins our painful waits for each new volume.
Tori Koro is a good series from them (although it's caught up as well, so could be painful waiting for vol 3+). Fun 4-panel type story about two girls roomigng with a mother and her high school daughter (who looks like she's a grade schooler). There's also another girl from school with a crush on the young looking girl. Hinadori Girl was a cute 3 volume series about a brother and sister given a cute maid robot by their father. All finished now, so not to hard to get the whole series if you liek the 1st volume.

I enjoyed the Stellvia manga. I think that if you liked the anime you will also like the manga. But the manga is only two volumes and covers just the first story arc of the anime.
High School Girls is one of my favorites. It seemed like the mangaka was struggling a bit to find fresh material in the later volumes, but it was still well worth my time and money. I will be buying volume seven as soon as I can. Hinadori Girl is a fun cute robot maid story. The chapter where Sally 001 discovers "fluffy" things still makes me laugh when I think about it. And it is complete in three volumes. Imperfect Hero is a fantasy romantic comedy that is also a sentai parody. I thought that it was funny and cute, and just a bit ecchi in places. It is also complete in three volumes. Indian Summer is a slightly different take on the cute robot maid theme. The kid who buys Yui, the maid, wants her to do nothing but cosplay. She has different ideas. I also found this to be cute and funny. But there is only one volume and it is not complete. And it has been a long, long time since that volume was released, with still no sign of the second. I also enjoyed the Junk Force manga. It is a science fiction story that is a bit more serious and dramatic than my normal fare, but still fun. And Mammett is yet another cute robot, but not anything like a maid, unless the maid is named Mahoro Ando. Junk Force is also complete with three volumes. Does anybody have any opinions on Pretty Maniacs or Stray Little Devil?

[/ QUOTE ] Thank you for that. I had not even noticed Maniac Road and was not aware of the connection. They both seem to be titles that I should like. Since Maniac Road is only three volumes I will probably try them both. Is Pretty Maniacs also complete at three volumes? I do not see it on the Manga Comparisons chart.

There were many grammar and spelling mistakes. I bought the first one (or two? I don't remember now) and seemed to be spotting problems every other page, so I gave up on the series. If the later books are near-perfect, I might try again, but it'll be painful rereading number one.

Lots of hilarious ecchi situations and the last volume moved me to tears. |
