I have the novel, and it was edited. As far as I know, it was never "delayed," but released on time.

I too have almost stopped buying from VIZ completely. Only thing I dare to buy is InuBaka; Which will probably be edited eventually. Unfortunately, I'm pretty much only the expert in title changes and some text changes and flipped series. Like "Ghost!" becoming "Eerie Queerie!" or Gravitation and Azumanga Daioh containing Americanization. Not sure if those would be included or not, though. I can try and ask some of my friends online and in real life, though.

Thanks for starting up this list, too! It helps me avoid certain series, and it's nice to know I'm not the only one avoiding edited titles. Some of my friends think it's stupid to avoid the titles...

I have a question: does dissing color art for black & white count as editing? He is My Master drops some color pages and has B&W ones instead.

Also, Yoshitaka's air soft guns are blacked out whenever they appear. (The guns were pretty darkened in the original, but in this version they are totally blacked out).

I was really excited to get this manga, but its not as cool when the few color panels are dropped. The pages in question look pretty bad. At this point I don't know if I'll even bother to get the rest of it.

I'd count it, personally. One of my great translated manga annoyances, no color pages!! Argh...

Can you get scans pictures of the airguns? That would be an edit (unless it's just sloppy work and poor quality control). And would totally prove that Seven Seas 'we won't edit our licensed manga' promise totally away (not that it's worth much after they edited Nymphet entirely out of existence in the US).

Dropping color pages hasn't really been regarded an 'edit'. Mostly a low budget move by some penny pinching suit.

Unfortunately, I do not have a scanner myself. And yes, the formerly colored pages look really low-budget, almost, I would say "cloudy" or "hazy" in appearence.

Like all color pages reduced in black and white ever?

How about taking pictures of the page with a digital camera?

I paged through my Japanese volume 5 and the guns do have a lot of details and from what I recall, vol 1 did too.

If they are pure black and other parts on those pages are not darkened, it's an edit.

I'd have to see the photos to be sure, though.

Oh I had not thought of that. I'll do it tomorrow and post the images for comparison.

There are countless occasions of color pages being printed in B&W in the U.S. releases. Tokyopop and Del Rey have done them on some occasions if they are right at the beginning of the book, But a lot (most?) of the time, they don't do it either. Viz almost never does it and the only exception I can think of is Yakitate and that was a special circumstance. Volume 19 of Bleach was suppose to have color pages (and a character event mentions it in the extras) but it was B&W in the Viz release.

One of the studio reps even addressed this at a panel recently (at Otakon, I think) and mentioned that it is rarely done because it adds a lot to the production costs.

And when color pages are reduced to B&W, they usually look a little off.
