No, it's happened. I've got English & Japanese GNs, plus collecting US Jump versions .. hmm I'll have to see if I can get some stuff scanned or at least get vols/page numbers. I'll do it as soon as I can. Some of the stuff was kinda recent...

So Naruto's naked Jutsu is really naked in the orignal? It's a man, so why remove male nipples? [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

Anyway, I guess your word is trustworthy enough. I've moved the Naruto nipples to the confirmed list. Let me knwo when you have some more details. Scans can go in a separate thread, I think. Best to keep this one simple to avoid too much bloat.

Just to be clear the previously mentioned nipple edits in Naruto are slight - they aren't like, full nipples (as someone mentioned is rare for jump anyway), but there is the frequent practice of slight erasing of lines or adding extra fog/smoke etc*. Almost all of my Jumps and some of my manga are boxed away because I'm getting ready to move, so I can't really pull them out at this moment... however:

I was looking at the 2 most recent JUMP issues just now -- The clan's curse mark on Neji's forehead has been changed in the VIZ version. It has changed to an "~X~" (but I think this change was in the anime too?.. been awhile for me... ) - In the original its the manji sign (often confused with the swastika).

There are also UNCONFIRMED questions regarding recent chapters -- notably: the June and July issues of Jump (chapters 91-94) where there are lots of Ninja Centerfold shots (with nipples and butt) and also girls frolicking in the water/nearby with bathing suits on - some of the tops look suspicious, but this is one of the volumes missing from my (Japanese) collection so I was unable to verify when the question was raised. There's also a pic in chapter 90 -- Page 166 in the English version of volume 10 -- of a girl in the bath house with (what I think is) a poorly-drawn towel draped over her shoulders, covering her chest. Can't comfirm that is an edit either though, but if anyone has volumes 10-11 of the Japanese, they could check on any of the afore-mentioned areas for us.

*edit 2: Ok, going back to the early nipple thing, with an example: Page 76 of volume 1 Ninja centerfold: The slight outline of the nipple was removed originally, then restored in printing #2 (ie silver covered limited edition book, for example), but then apparently disappeared in a later printing (3 or 4). This has all been confirmed on this board in the past, but the notes in question I think have long fallen off. There are other instances, but I don't have all the books at hand or the time to flip thru them all again right now.

Original Neji and VIZ's Neji -- this of course applies to every shot of him where the mark is visible, just scanned this one page from chapter 102.

I just love how inconsistent Viz is. In One Piece there was some "goon" in Arlong's pirate crew who had the same mark on his body; and they put a note explaining it's symbology.
But in Naruto, they just edit it.

I hear that Battle Vixens (Ikki Tousen) by Shiozaki Yuji (published by TokyoPop) has had dialogue substantially adapted, though I've never checked myself (other than an extremely rough look over volume 4).

Silky Whip and Silky Whip (Junk Story, Five and Engine Room) by Oh! great had two pages deleted from one story. (Basically, if it's Oh! great in English, it's censored.) Another story was not published in English (I don't know whether that was censorship or not). On the other hand, sexual organs were uncensored for the English language version.

The original thread notes that the Viz GN (which is not Shoujo Beat) matches the Japanese GN. The difference is between the serialized and collected Japanese versions and should not be considered an edit by the American company.

Not sure that's confirmed. The post I assume you're referring to (here) appears to be talking only about the "foot" issue, not the "smoke" one.
