Thought I'd give this a Turkey Day bump, seeing that it's all ready languishing down on page three!
Will Geoduck sweep both this AND the finals? Or will one of the other five contenders achieve victory? Only time will tell! |

Would it be alright to write up a cast defense here, too? Had some fun doing the other one.
Speaking of Geoduck's aftermath cast, a few I'm not sure on, but the pick of Billy Crudup for Touya strikes me as brilliant. That's one I would really be interested in hearing for the role.

Let me defend mine here
Andrea Bowen-Sakura Avalon This was a very difficult choice Bowen is best known for playing Julie Mayer on Desperate Housewives, she has voice acting experience as well, she had a very very small part in Final Fantasy Seven Advent Children but her voice is great for her. Clarine Harp-Madison Taylor Clarine to me is an actress who has remarkable range and I was looking for somebody who could play a girl but not someone who would be way too girlish. This is a little bit of a strong suit for her. Darrel Guilbeau-Li Showron Darrel was the perfect choice for Showron, he has established himself as an actor with a niche for voicing young boys. Erin Fitzgerald-Meilin Rae this might not be a name most are familiar with but she had a fairly significant part on Ranma 1/2 before she moved to california and did a variety of voices. I think Erin was a good choice for rae. Richard Ian Cox-Keroberos Mr. Cox is about the only one that can come to mind when it comes to trying to capture Kero's snobbiness. Derek Stephen Prince-Tori Avalon He is perfect for any role where he plays a high school student. Kyle Hebert-Julian Star This one is very interesting because Hebert and Julian look completely opposite, Hebert is extremely big and powerful and Julian on the other hand is busy wearing glasses. Still Hebert fits well with Julian. Chuck Huber-Aiden Avalon An easy choice, after watching Chuck Huber in Shin-chan I am almost certain that he can play a very overly friendly dad like Aiden. John DeMita-Clow Reed We were looking for somebody with a nice deep voice and Mr. DeMita fits it. Cynthia Cranz-Samantha Taylor She plays a mother on Shin-Chan so she was the only one i could think of here.

Now to get to the thoughts on my aftermath cast...
Brenna O'Brien as Sakura Kinomoto Most known for voicing Rin in Inuyasha, Brenna O'Brien would likely be one of my favorite picks for Sakura out of the potential child actresses. She's got a super-sweet voice and I suppose if she pitches up her Rin voice a little bit it would work well for Sakura. Amber Cotton as Tomoyo Daidouji Not a well known VA, I'd guess, but one of my choices I was contemplating for Tomoyo. I think she does well with a soft young girl kind of voice that would work for Tomoyo. And given Mine Kuramae in Fruits Basket and Koto in Yu Yu Hakusho I think she would have the enthusiasm and obsession characteristics of Tomoyo covered nicely. Steven Bendik as Shaoran Li Another one where I'm deviating from my main draft strategy in also picking a male actor here (or at least hypothetically going by the voice employed by Okahara in ROD TV and Ushiyama in Paranoia Agent; don't know if his voice has changed). He can put on a nice agitated voice and also show Shaoran's soft side well, I'd think. Caroline Lawson as Meiling Li She's a great and often overlooked NY voice actress. She tends to play deeper-voiced characters than this, but I think her younger pitch like with Seiko Rikiishi in Shrine of the Morning Mist would go well with Meiling. The voice was feisty, a little tomboyish, and competitive, which goes with the character. Debi Derryberry as Kero-chan Another underutilized voice actress with impressive range. Thinking of Misao, I could have gone with her as Tomoyo, and with some of her haughtier voices Meilin, or even Shaoran with her boyish voices. But I think it would be better to just combine the aspects of the latter two with another mascot role like Ryo-Ohki. Of course, something a bit more hyper than Ryo-Ohki here is needed, but I can definitely hear this one well. Taliesin Jaffe as Touya Kinomoto Well, I'm only going with one role here, but given his role as Rufus in VP2, I think I have some of the qualities needed for a good Touya voice. Youngish sounding (not too deep), can be sarcastic at times (maybe something around that range can work for the teasing bit), but also kind and protective when need be without losing some of the beforementioned qualities. Oh, and of course he's the honorary ADR director and script writer for my aftermath cast in this case. Andrew Philpot as Yukito Tsukishiro Andrew Philpot is perhaps a deeper choice for Yukito than usual, but with the characters he voices like Alexander, Nobuyuki, and Makoto, he carries a very good subdued but compassionate voice, perfect for Yukito. Jeff Lumby as Fujitaka Kinomoto While his most known anime role is in Sailor Moon as the insane Professor Tomoe, he is also known for a bit of a friendly, fatherly side to the character in that same series (and at that, a kind of voice that goes with Fujitaka). More of the friendlier voice can be heard with Kakeru in Sailor Moon S movie as well. Rebecca Forstadt as Chiharu Mihara Chiharu has a really cutesy look to her, so she is one in which I think of a fairly cutesy voice to go along with her (one reason why Midge Mayes seemed to be a bit off for me in CCS Movie 2). She gets frustrated with Yamazaki a lot, and given her roles as Rena in Hand Maid May and Sugar in Snow Fairy Sugar, I think this fits nicely in my mind. Peter Doyle as Eriol Hiiragizawa Eriol exudes an aura of elegance and a voice that is a bit older than he actually appears. Peter Doyle could do pretty good in sounding young when need be, and deep at other times.
