Default Any New News On Future Shaman King Uncut DVDs?

Hey

I haven't been on here in about 6 months and sadly couldn't find my original post for this topic so I've had to start again which I hope no-one minds me doing :nervous:

So, basically its been over a year since 4kids/Funimation released Shaman King Uncut volumes 1 and 2 and stopped. Even though volumes 3,4 and 5 where advertised, we never actaully saw them relased and rumors from the time said that they had been pushed back for a few months. Well, that was a year+ ago and I've herd nothing so I was just wondering if there has been any word whatsoever out there on future releases for uncut DVDs or if they have been stopped altogether as we've been pretty much left in the dark on them, same goes for Yu-Gi-Oh

They where a really great thing for anyfan to own and I hope we get to see more

Thanks :neko:

I think it's pretty safe to say that the plans are delayed indefinitely. If they ever decide to do boxsets down the line that's great but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I'd like more too, but I think it's safe to say it's been cancelled. I've been secretly hoping Odex will license Shaman King, One Piece and other shows that were especially butchered by 4Kids and release them with English subs. Is it likely? No. Is it comparitively more likely than 4Kids continuing the uncut releases they dropped? I'd say so.

Thanks for your concern about Shaman King. Unfortunately, looks like there is not a good chance of any more future unedited releases. It's all up to 4Kids.

Probably not going to happen while 4kids still holds the license. Shaman King and Yu Gi Oh would have sold well if they had, you know, actually been uncut and properly subtitled. By instead 4kids dumped them dubtitled sans extras with no advertising because they would "sell themselves" or some other nonsense. Pity.

I don't think they sold badly, they did about as well as most other anime releases. Problem with that is most releases only end up breaking even, which is something that is not in the cards for a company like 4Kids. Releasing a successful show and making a killing on merchandising-- now that's the language 4Kids speaks.

If 4Kids rights to this series and Yugioh ever expire, could there still be a chance that Funi could pick up the rights and give it a proper uncut release?

I would think any thing's possible, but somehow I doubt a Funi rep would be able to say much about it until that actually happened.

Welp, I was browsing though the 4kids site the other day and came across a new part to it that I'd never seen before. I found a section called 4Kids Entertainment Home Video so I thought I'd try my luck and write them an e-mail asking about the uncut releases and to my GREAT surprice, I got this e-mail back from the director in the space of one day so I'd thought I'd share it with you all...

"As you have correctly indicated, I am the Director of Home Entertainment. Now you may think this title comes with power, gold, jewels, but, sad as it is, my power is limited.

Seriously, Shaman King was released uncut but did not sell enough to continue. Lost too much money. We toyed with the idea of releasing it as season sets, but again the cost was an issue.
I hope this answers all your questions."

What are you guys's thoughts on this?

I personally don't really think that they not selling well enough was a problem and surely they made enough monry for them, I don't know! I'm just glad I got a reason for it finally!

Hum, crazy thought! Do you guys think that if we could get a pitition going to be signed by everyone who would buy a uncut release they would re-consider if they saw the numbers of people who want it? I was thinking I'd e-mail the guy back and ask if it was a possibility.

What do you all have to say about this?:neko:

I wish they had toyed with the idea of releasing the uncut versions the way fans of uncut anime prefer, but oh well, what're ya gonna do.
