tell me about HMV.JP

So, with AmJ continually pissing me off with their unwanted express-shipping upgrades for my orders, I decided to open an account on HMV Japan for my R2J-needs and stuff. I don't like to be exclusive with CDJ coz of their pricing.

I don't have any experience from them, but from what I can tell, they got good pricing and uses EMS compared to AmJ.

I'm a little curious about their stuff and if somebody here uses them, please tell me more about them.

I'm particularly wondering about the First-Press items and if you hmv-shoppers ever get hit with duty-fees when shopping with them using EMS.

Have used HMV 3 times over the past year

2 of my orders that were small (15,000 yen or less) were not raped by the customs bastards

My large order of 40000 yen was taxed however

Their CS is pretty good and they will replace damaged/defective goods w/o a problem

Also, their points system comes in handy too.

The only thing other than customs I don't like about HMV is that you might pay more for shipping as the cost you get is usually an estimate, mind you my shipping cost was only changed once and only since it contained a box set.

I've never had customs fees with anything shipped via EMS, including stuff I've bought from HMV. I haven't bought anything from them in a while, and I wasn't trying to order first press items, IIRC, so I can't comment on how well that goes. Never had any issues with them, though.

do they ship games outside of jp?

what about pc games or stictly console ones?

do they carry the leaf/key music cds that are flagged as cd-roms on amazon jp? if they do can they ship these overseas?
