Default Was there an Elfen Lied Manga too?

I just recently picked up the boxset and watched it. I loved it. I was wondering if there was a manga too? If so was the show inspired by the manga or vice versa? If there is a manga does it go further than the show? Thanks for your time.

It was originally a manga, and the manga does go farther than the show.
But the art is kinda weird.

Nope. It's Shueisha, which means only Viz, really. And Viz doesn't do that kind of book much.

Yeah, neither the Elfen Lied manga nor the Gantz one will probably be released in the US anytime soon.

Elfen Lieds art isn't considered pretty which was already said by a Tokyopop Germany rep. Since the anime sold so well in Germany, they were thinking about releasing the manga, but decided against it due to the art.

But what about the Hellsing manga? The art isn't really the strong point either IMO, but it sells very well.

? The art in Hellsing is insanely good. Very, very detailed, with spectacular layouts.
The art in Elfen Lied is amateurish.

Well, I don't know about details and layout, but the art itself doesn't really look good to me. But maybe I am the only one who thinks that.

I know someone else who didn't care for the bendy character designs. And the first volume doesn't really show off the full punch of what he can do.

Since everyone here isn't very hopeful of it's release here could someone spoil the differances from manga to anime please? I checked out Wikipedia on this but it was very vauge about the differances.
