Default Re: Released and upcoming anime in HD

Way to ruin my day. Thanks for nothing. Grrr.

Ah, just bitching, between this and the fact that GiTS is coming out here with its 2.0 release as opposed to the original, it's been a hell of a downer day for me. (Don't follow the news that often.)

It just sucks that to get 3 of my favorite Oshii films I'll have to pay through the nose, and to get the fourth I'll have to pray hard.

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can't justify paying $90 for a movie, no matter how much I love it (though I would have been tempted heavily by Beautiful Dreamer.)

Do the Japanese Bluray have any English subs or dubs on them?

Patlabor 1 & 2 have subs and dubs. Patlabor 3 has subs.

Is this thread still being updated? I noticed quite a few Blu-rays have been announced but aren't on the list. Well I hope it is since I found this quite useful.

I haven't had time to update it, and there's just too much stuff coming out in Japan at the moment. This was never meant to be a permanent section of the forums however, and will eventually be replaced by your usual release lists and the like which we've done for the R1 forum. Just need someone to volunteer/start posting . For Japanese releases there's always AV Watch, but I am considering creating a new sticky like we have in the R2J forum with a list of Japanese titles with English subs or dubs.

Any word of if tere will be a Kara no Kyoukai R2 release? It's way too gorgeous for just SD right now. I mean seriously, it's an aniplex new movie release and it doesn't have a BD planned? Seems really, really odd.

Aniplex hasn't been releasing any of their new stuff to Blu-ray except the new FMA. No Gurren Lagann movies, no Kannagi (despite a Blu-ray recordable disc being advertised in the show itself), nothing except for odd releases like the Flag recap movie 2 years ago, FMA movie in a 50,000 yen DVD box set, and the new FMA series (supposedly).

And ironically, they're a Sony group company.

That's quite possible, they're clearly losing some DVD sales to those who are waiting for the Blu-ray but it might not be enough for them at this point, despite anime Blu-rays selling very well in Japan, especially Bandai Visual's TV anime series.
