Default Thoughts on FMA up ot Vol 12

I got a chance to catch up on FullMetal Alchemist up to Vo,ume 12 and i got to say i'm really enjoying it. It's similar to the anime but different enough to feel like a different story., I'm liking the characters from Xing, they add a different dynamic to the story, and some characters like Scar and Roy seem different from the anime. Overall it's a good read and i can't wait for more volumes to come over.

Ling and Mei are a blessing for this series. They just made it more interesting. Especially in the coming volume or 2.

When I picked up volume seven, I did not think that the storylines (anime and manga) could diverge so quickly.

I did not enjoy the introduction of the people of Xing much in the beginning. The antics of the prince led me to believe they would be just comedic relief. I'm glad that their different culture is being put to use in advancing/ complicating the plot.

I was also surprised by how quickly people would fall by the wayside. Arakawa is kind of ruthless in that respect (I do love the in memorium panel though).

I picked up volume 13 over the weekend. If anyone had doubts about how divergent the storylines were, this volume should remove those doubts.

Roy and his team get [hide]scattered to the four winds, literally[/hide]. Ed and Al are now facing [hide]Hohenheim[/hide] in the presence of the homoculi.

I need to read volume 14 NOW!
