Default No Dubovers for Slayers

It looks like Funimation's re-release of Slayers will not involve any redubbing. According to the report at A-Cen, they don't have the resources needed to get Veronica Taylor and Crispin Freeman to Dallas in order to complete the dub that was changed mid-series after the old VAs were ditched.

Not sure of the reason why the NY dubbing studio for Slayers changed the VAs for Zel and Amelia, but the decision worked as Crispin and Veronica proved to be a huge improvement over the original VAs.

According to here:

...it's because there was a large delay between two volumes which ended up recasting lots of peeps.

Well it looks like FUNi just lost a sale from me.

The reasons why the entire cast (except Lisa Ortiz and Eric Stuart) were replaced are well known nowadays.

Though I can understand and accept Funi's not having resources (or maybe even desire) to get Freeman and Ms Taylor down to Dallas, it does make me somewhat sad that I'm going to have to listen to the vastly inferior original voices for the first half of the first series.

I do hope at least the video quality will be somewhat improved, since it seems nothing else is.

I liked Zelgadis' first voice, so this is kind of a non-issue for me. I like the idea of having both his and Crispin Freeman's Zel on the dub anyway.

I didn't care much for Amelia's first voice, but as she is only present for a whopping four episodes before Veronica Taylor took over, it's also a non-issue.

I'll still buy it and live.

Just to clarify the situation, the problems don't involve monetary "resources" (I wouldn't have used that word) but a lack of production materials.

Err, the way I read what FUNiRepBlue said in his post was that they couldn't get the material to make a new dub (I'm assuming sound & effects tracks), not that they didn't want to or couldn't get other actors to re-record lines.
