New This Week: Releases for the Week of June 5, 2007

In accordance to AoD's Upcoming Releases page, the following are the releases that are officially scheduled to street this week. Please select the item(s) you're planning to buy this week, have on order, won in a contest, or have already bought. If none, select None of the above.

Last week, there was a pretty good battle between two solid Geneon releases. Rozen Maiden Vol. #1 and Ergo Proxy Vol. #4 staged a very heated battle all week; but in the end, it was the Rozen Maidens that pull out a 102-94 win over Ergo. A very impressive performance for the Maidens, but unfortunately they happened to get caught by the wrath of Hurricane Haruhi, who did significant damage to the Weekly Releases poll, the likes of which no other release has ever done before. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Vol. #1 wholloped the poor Maidens (and everyone else) with an astounding 203 votes, doubling what the Maidens earned. The special editon of MoHS alone earned 165 votes, which smashed the previous record of 129 votes set by Full MEtal Panic! TSR Vol. #1. There were a total of 855 votes tallied in the poll, which broke the previous mark of 612 set on the February 20 poll.

One change of note: The Big O Anime Legends collection will street on June 19, according to TRSI.

Nothing for me this week, which is just as well since May's releases (anime and otherwise) killed my effort to save any money that month.

Kodocha #13 arrived a week ago and I'm waiting on another item or two for When They Cry #1w/box to ship.

I already have the singles for Diamond Daydreams, so I don't need the thinpack.

I wonder if last week also had a record low 'none of the above' -- especially compared to the number of total votes...

For this week, I'm getting the usual suspects, though Highlander is not on my list. Looking forward to Higurashi...

For me, it's just Higurashi Vol. #1 with the artbox (which I received last week) and Eureka Seven Vol. #7 regular version. I already have the Diamond Daydreams singals. As for Kodocha Vol. #13, while that's on my wishlist for the time being, I'm going to wait and see what FUNi ultimately decised what to do in terms of whether they will go forward with releasing the rest of the series, or if indeed Vol. #13 will be their final DVD release.

Also, I apologize for being a tad late in posting the poll, but I was witnessing an unprecedented moment in Cleveland sports history (Cavs winning their first-ever NBA Eastern Conference Championship).

Total number of None of the above votes last week was 7. I don't believe that's a record.
