Default Eva Rebuild movie 1 reviews

Trailers for movie 2 sounds the most interesting part, but the CG eye candy seems to have impressed. C'mon with the R2J DVD now..

I haven't seen this movie yet as I don't know Japanese or live in Japan, but I will say that I thought it was kind of silly for those reviews to somehow expect this movie to be on the same quality as End Of Eva when it's been known for months now that it was going to be a recap of the first six episodes and the weirdness factor of Eva doesn't come into play until mid-way through the series.

Yeppers. The first movie is basically a retelling with prettier animation. Thats the biggest draw for me is the animation. Movie #2 looks like it'll have some new stuff in it.

There's a lot of little touches in the movie that I've heard was included. One of which has me really wondering...

[hide]The blood stained moon from End of Evangelion is the moon that is in The Rebuild of Evangelion. It could be a nod to the movie, or it could be more. We'll see in time.[/hide]

Just went to see this this afternoon. Everyone went ehhh?!? after the preview of the 2nd movie. Otherwise a pretty uneventful affair. Pretty though.

Going off the review, it certainly sounds like more of a straight rehash than a reimagining. I suppose it's impetus for me to go back and rewatch the original series--and finally watch the movies--in preparation for when this inevitably hits Stateside...

Well the second movie supposedly will have some new stuff in it. They really needed to set up everything for the first movie. I'm going into it as a rehash/reimagining.

Good point. They had to do setpiece work to get it out of the way for the folks who are coming in cold (and there have to be some, somewhere); it's not like they could have the very first shot be Gendou and Rei in bed or something...

While they couldn't, they damn well should have. :>
