So gorgeous I need it in my hands right now! Geneon would have released the first one of these by now...

It's quite odd, I didn't even realise movies of the Tsukihime series were being produced, then I stumble upon them and find that they're some awesome-high-quality movies and wonder why they've not been licensed yet.
Just to clarify, Kara no Kyoukai is not Tsukihime, and at best is only vaguely related since it does involve a single canonical connection.

They've likely not been licensed yet for one of several reasons:

- All seven movies have not yet been made in Japan.
- The studio that holds the license, Aniplex, may be asking too much money (we are talking seven films with rather high production budgets, after all).
- Previous TYPE-MOON anime have not been outstanding performers in R1 (Tsukihime and Fate/stay night, both released by Geneon), which may make potential licensees wary.

Or, somebody has licensed them, and simply hasn't announced them yet.

I know nothing about this part of the TYPE-MOON universe, but it certainly looks gorgeous indeed.

Highly unlikely since it has only just been released in Japan and there is only one 30min episode out this far - as you can see from the Otome Zwei thread if Geneon had released this a single episode per disc there would be an outcry.

[edit]I'm not sure where I got 30mins from, having finally watched it is more like 45[/edit]

And damn, the first movie's limited edition is sold out... oh well I'll just wait for the US release.
It is still available or I wouldn't have it since I only ordered it a couple of days ago.

In Japan the limited edition always come first (in my experience anyway).

Likewise for Kaiba stuff, I still can't find any pictures of the release.
Only volume 1 of Mnemosyne has english subs. Apparently volume 2 has no english subs

Kara no Kyoukai is TYPE-MOON's first work, written before Kinoko Nasu and Takashi Takeuchi actually formally formed TYPE-MOON. It was originally a seven-chapter doujin novel released online and at Comiket in the late '90s, and each of those seven chapters is the basis for each of the seven movies currently being released.

Looking at Kara no Kyoukai, some elements such as character designs, mythos elements, and story concepts are obviously borrowed/reused by TYPE-MOON in Tsukihime and Fate/stay night. Despite this, or perhaps unavoidably because of it, Kara no Kyoukai technically does take place in the same universe as Tsukihime and Fate/stay night, though that connection is of little consequence to any of the three in the end.

Oh damn, that's absolutely ruined my plans there. How useless.... I wanted to actually SEE this series so badly!

Thanks for the elaboration. I should have said 'related to' instead of being part of the Tsukihime series.

Got in Mnemosyne v2 today, and as Sweep stated, there are no subs on this vol. Guess they're doing a reverse FLCL (which had subs on v2-6, but not v1) ???

Don't have a camera, but maybe a few words can suffice:
- packaging is a two disc digipack case with slipcover (open at top & bottom)
- the slipcover and case use the same image (wraps around), but the spine and back of the slipcover obstructs the image with logos, episode summary/teaser, a few screen shots and the technical grid
- inside the case, the dvd is on the left face and bonus cd on the right, with an 8 page booklet loose between them
- art on the dvd is the same image as the front cover
- beneath the dvd is a character illo: v1 = Rin, v2 = Mimi (non sexual)
- art beneath the cd is the same cityscape image for both vols, with a few small screenshots along the bottom
- booklets consist of chara. profiles and seiyuu interview (v1 = Rin, v2 = Mimi), plus other interviews

Many thanks for the information. I'll be giving this a miss and waiting for the R1 release (if ever) instead, due to the lack of subtitles.

Another unsolved mystery goes into the anime industry bag, and DAMN it's getting full!
