In Summary:
The fifth volume of Beck starts to cement things for how the anime incarnation will end, which in itself only covers a part of where the manga is going to go. That's not a bad thing if they manage to end this in a way that really feels like it's closing out the first chapter in the larger story properly. These episodes are a bit more laid back at times than I would prefer, and the focus on Ryusuke is a bit much early on, but it's all in service to the larger goal. The good moments come frequently after some of these early events and there is plenty of what I think is the good material, both of Koyuki's growth as a musician and his relationship with Maho. Beck continues to come together well, the music is fantastic and the acting on both sides of the language options is stellar. Even when it's weak, Beck is great. Very recommended.

Awesome show! I bought this disc early last week, but I can't watch it yet because I made the mistake of telling my girlfriend that I'd buy her the rest of BECK for her Christmas gift. She wants to have a gift to open at Christmas from me... I just want to watch it!!!

Ahahahahahaha! I'll be sure to tell her that one!

Especially since she's so cruelly holding onto "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" on Blu-Ray until Christmas as well...

Just got volume 6, and as expected, "I've Got A Feeling" isn't present. Or more accurately, it lyrically isn't present, which is quite noticable during most shots. Boo to licensing difficulties for a great song, boo for awkward lyrics in its place, & yay for the show still being good despite.

Here's hoping that future new media releases won't be edited, or at the very least, import friendly Japanese blue-ray with subtitles!

I'm assuming you're only referring to the dub track right? The original Japanese hasn't been altered as per what FUNi has said?

Nope, I'm referring to the Japanese track, where the lyrics pretty much repeat "i can't find this emotion (or something to that effect)" over & over. While I suppose it does count as "an" original Japanese track, it most definately is not "the" original Japanese track, which actually had the lyrics to "I've Got A Feeling."

You beat me to it! I was just going to post this turn of events. The english lyrics sound AWFUL to me. Of course, I've heard the original Japanese "I've Got a Feeling" performance, so I have something to compare it to. The entire mood of that scene is changed...

I really don't like it, but what can I do now that I've bought it and given it to the girlfriend? Oh well...
