Default Karas: The Revelation

Well I've been waiting for this DVD release for over a year now and I was wondering what other viewers thought about the series? The story line picks up where Karas: The Prophecy left off and animation kicks major a$$. The action scenes are incredible....I'm talking violence galore! The final battle scene has to be one the best that I've seen in any anime series. Just curious what other AOD fans thought about this release.

Grumble Grumble Grumble

When I watched 'Karas: The Prophacy' when it first came out, I thought the OVA had breath taking CGI graphics quality, but the incomplete story gave only the barest hints of a plot, and left the viewer to guess what was actually going on...

But after seeing 'Karas: The Revelation' last month, my opinion on this OVA series has completely changed. The second half fully explains who (and what) Karas is, defines the motivations of all the major players in the story, maintains the breathtaking CGI graphics quality and provides a quality ending to the story. All of the faults of the first DVD release has been properly addressed. This is a series to be recommended!

It also makes you want to see more of the Karas universe. I thought the first one was beautiful animation wise, story wise it was kinda "huh?" the ending got me wondering what the hell was going on. Then when Revelation was released I watched both back to back and while the fights were not as indepth as the Prophecy, they were paced and well drawn out. Overall it is a very good OVA. I do rather feel like this should maybe be in the Recommendation thread, but I'm cool discussing the show where ever the thread is. :D

I just rewatched the whole thing this weekend. Absolutely fantastic. Compelling storyline, great animation, interesting characters, and badass fight scenes. What more do you need?

The original R2 DVD release in R1 as 6 OVA episodes. :grr:

Strait Jacket is also having an episodic release on R2 DVD for those interested.

Well, unless the openings and closings were significantly different from episode to episode, I would have just danced right past them. So what they did was okay by me.

With OP and EDs you get a different feel to the series and that first segment in movie 1 doesn't look like an obvious cut.

To each his own. The original DVD release format deserves to be seen in R1 imo.

I love "Under Fire" as well as Rurutia's ending song. But "Under Fire" is such an awesome song.

Yeah, it's a great series. I now have the manga release (dvd 1) and the Taiwanese release (ova 1 - 3). Just can't make up my my mind.. the Taiwanese release has DTS full rate sound, but no subs. Now there's also the French release with Dutch subs, but on the other hand I might as well wait for a BluRay release.
