I didn't see any posts on this and wasn't sure if Jason made it to the Bandai Entertainment/Gainax panel on Gurren Lagann last night, but Gainax talked more about some of their upcoming projects during the Q&A.
- One project is a movie adaptation of an unnamed shoujo manga.
- One project is a TV series being worked on by both Hiroyuki Yamaga and Yasuhiro Takeda and is a serious, "heavy" movie.
- Aaaand the third project is another TV series that's more light and pop.
If you missed it elsewhere: in the big Gainax panel the day prior Yamaga had talked about one of these projects, although I don't think he specified whether the project he was talking about was a movie or a TV series, so I don't know which of the above three (if any) it is.
But it features a character who grew up in England (he was talking about going to England to research it) who becomes a rock musician. It also involves an unnamed sport which apparently has an event in Egypt-- with the England and Egypt hints, I'm guessing soccer (or if non-North American sprefer, football).
My writeup of the main Gainax panel is
here (and may or may not be longer than my senior thesis project); the BEI/Gainax panel is
here.
I'm going to the Meet Gainax event this evening and I'm going to try to get to the "Unlocking
Gurren Lagann" panel as well, though I'm scheduled to podcast tonight, so I'm not sure if I'll make it. @_@;
