Yeah at Otakon ADV said DVD release will be up to Upper Deck.

besides convincing them to continue dubbing the series (which would help ADV earn money from the production contract they have).
From what I've heard (the wording was confusing so it wasn't crystal clear) but I believe they were working on the final episodes some weeks ago.

Okay, in which case any DVD release would have minimal impact on ADV's bottom line (either way, perhaps thankfully).

Uh oh! What is ADV going to show at conventions now?
They'll still show Kiba, but I am starting to be curious about the DVD realease as I want to support ADV but don't like Clannad but do like this(okay I have never seen Clannad but I am not buying it blind).

And up to 6 is out now.
ADV likely has no control over the DVD release schedule or whether there is one at all. Such a thing would be decided by Upper Deck. Furthermore, buying those DVDs might not be supporting ADV all that much anyway, besides convincing them to continue dubbing the series (which would help ADV earn money from the production contract they have). Remember Upper Deck owns the license and ADV is acting as a production house here, not as a master licenser.

In any case the reality is more likely we won't see a DVD release of this for a while if ever anyway. Unless the card game comes out and gets popular, I doubtthe Jetstream airing alone will be enough to let them continue to produce it.
Sad but true. And there don't seem to be any concrete plans for the card game anywhere in site. Not to mention CN's near stripping of all anime from their TV schedule. It certainly isn't easy to launch a franchise like this right now. And that's a shame, as it's a good dub and much better than i expected for a card game based anime.

If they d**k around with it too much, and can't get it on TV, maybe we can hope they will eventually just give up and let ADV release the discs to recoup some of the licensing money. And ADV will get something from the sales as they will be acting as distributor, not to mention the money from dubbing. It may not be an actual ADV, but they are benefitting from it some.

Well, except for the fact that ADV outsources their distro to TRSI now. You'd probably be benefiting them more than ADV...

Well, that's good. I'm enjoying this series from what I've watched so far (episode 5)- it's a bit above average. A nice diversion. Only bad thing about it being on Jetstream is that new episodes are only being added bi-weekly. Thus, it's a freakin' long wait between episodes.

ADV doesn't outsource their distribution, just their warehousing. ADV still handles their own sales and distribution. In fact, they've handled Right Stuf's B&M distribution for sometime (don't know about online), similar to how Funi handled AN Entertainments. Paramount and Dreamworks do something similar with Technicolor, who produces and warehouses their product, but Paramount handles the marketing and distribution (even though the product is shipped from Technicolor's warehouses.) This is fairly common in the entertainment arena, as it tends to be much cheaper then running your own warehouse.
