Default Mamoru the Shadow Protector (Kage Kara Mamoru) # 1

I wasn't even aware that this manga was out in English until I came across an article in Otaku Usa. For those of you who are not familiar with the story, it is about Mamoru, a ninja who secretly protects Yuna a somewhat ditzy girl. More girls are introduced and soon it goes into a romantic comedy route. This may sound a lot like Kage Tora but while that came off derivative and cliched, Mamoru the Shadow Protector actually came off somewhat humorous and entertaining.
Tsubaki actually looks better in the manga than the anime but I can't say that I like Airi's tsundere behaviour. So far, no sign of Yamame and Hotaru in the 1st volume yet. Also apparently, this manga was made after the anime. There are some extra stories not found in the anime. I thought the zoo story was quite amusing. I am somewhat disappointed though that fights are often skipped to the aftermath of the fight.
It's odd that considering the anime tie-in, Dr. Master hasn't been doing enough to promote this. While it's not exactly groundbreaking, the manga is somewhat entertaining enough for a chuckle or two. Anyone else read this yet?

I swear, pianocello, you and I must have the same shopping lists.

I picked this up and loved it. I found the gags fairly amusing and the Mamoru was pretty kickass at times, as was his whole family.

I guess DR Master hasn't promoted the anime tie-in because, to the best of my knowledge, the anime has never been released here. I wasn't even aware there was an anime until I went hunting online for more information about the series after reading the first volume of the manga. I'd love to see it now.

I'd also love to read the novels too. Seven Seas has the license under the title of Ninja Next Door but sadly the books have been delayed as Seven Seas "prioritizes" its schedule (Read: We need a hit right now and novel translations are 'spensive)

Whoa, I just ordered Vols 1-3 of MtSP, and the Novel bit, so it was odd to see this thread pop up here! I just started the manga vol 1 last night, it is cute. I hope the anime gets a release, but who knows how that will go >_>;

The translations are the least of it. There is just not a big enough audience for the books right now.

I just finished a review of this, as a matter of fact. I don't want to spoil the review, but my thumbs were by no means down.

Too bad about there being no market for the novels. I really want to read those now.
