Samurai 7: Complete Collection (Blu-ray) due out on 2/24/2009.

No real surprises here. They reused the cover that was used for the Viridian complete collection. I liked the series, but not enough for me to upgrade to Blu-ray.

I have yet to buy this show. Maybe I'll just skip the DVD and go straight to Blu-ray.

You may want to pre-order it now. The retail price will be increased to $99.98 (from $79.98). Most online retailers have yet to adjust their pricing. It may be up to retailer's discretion on whether they will honor the prices.

I haven't even opened my Viridian Collection yet, so I won't be upgrading any time soon. I'm curious though, how many discs is it?

Which one, are you referring to. The Blu-ray is reportedly to have 3 Blu-ray discs. The Viridian collection should have 7 DVDs though I'm not certain about that.

I will be getting this. I haven't seen the series yet. I'm glad I can buy it on blu ray right the first time.
I wonder how it will look.

Also, I wonder if the booklets are included with the blu ray release?
It's not like this is a cheap second release.

It's the first blu ray release.

I doubt the booklets will be included, primarily for space reasons.
- First BD cases are smaller than DVD cases so you can't really put the standard dvd insert into them and I doubt Funi is going to re-make them in a smaller format.
- Second BD cases are thinner than standard DVD cases, and again not sure how you'd fit the 7 booklets into such a thin case.
