Question What anime spooked/grossed-out you the most when you first saw it?

I think this is a recommendations question? Kinda Halloween oriented.

Mermaid Forest OVA was the first title that made me jump, followed by Laughing Target OVA - both supernatural, MF being gory & LT creepy.

Nothing then for a long time, until I finally saw Urotsukidoji, with the "Aliens"-like toothed-tongue demon permanently burned into my memory.

Now When They Cry has the creepy-gross trophy, & I've destroyed the 4 discs I had, their having been too for me to want to continue watching or give to anyone else.

There was no need to destroy them. Don't you think that's a little drastic? I would've taken them.

So far, the gross-out anime title for me goes to Night Shift Nurses or that one scene in Blood Royale... Blood 'n guts everywhere doesn't even phase me. Hell, just the other day I was watching New Fist of the North Star, and laughed a lot at the exploding heads.

I haven't really been creeped out by any anime.

WHAT! I am up to episode 12 so far and it hasn't even been that bad.

Elfen Lied opening scene and the Poor little puppy scene. are by FAR the creepiest scenes I have seen YET in an anime.

The only anime that's given me any sort of reaction like that is Boogiepop Phantom; got the chills a few times while watching that.

So then why didn't you, ya know, sell them instead?

I'm also going with the first five minutes from the first episode of Elfen Lied. That bloodbath made the most violent moments from any Tarantino flick look tame by comparison.

Yeah, that did it for me too. When she killed the boy and the dog ran away, also the part in the train when she killed the girl and the father was other shocker to me. Eventually was able to watch the whole series.

Oh they aren't that bad.

Well, except for the distinction

Nothing else in the show even phased me.

Akira really creeped me out the first time I saw it, especially the whole blobby climax sequence.

Njr: just sell them next time.

I actually left the room by chance with the puppy scene. Hearing it was well enough for me :-X.

Moments of Boogiepop Phantom freaked me out the first time around, then I kinda got use to it. That or I got desensitized by horror films i was watching at the time. *loves b-horror flicks*

Overall, It's more of certain acts that really throw me off kilter. Anything that involves teeth or nails really bother me. I'm just happy When They Cry only had one of em. still, it's the worse of the two. Eye removal/piercing is another big one. Although i don't know of any anime off the top of my head for that.

On completely a different note, the very first scene to When They Cry is quite the statement. :X
