Default New Viz Licenses

The SimonSays website has been updated with new Viz releases through August. In addition to first volumes for some previously announced series, there are some surprises, too!

Ooku: The Inner Chamber - yes, this is the historical series by Fumi Yoshinaga!
Black Bird
Choco Mimi
Kimi ni Todoke
Children of the Sea
Gestalt
Waqwaq
Detroit Metal City
Rasetsu - sequel to Yurara
Tail of the Moon Prequel: The Other Hanzo - apparently this is really called Tsuki no Toiki

Other things:
* Slam Dunk seems to be going bimonthly after volume 2 finally appears in February
* Boys Over Flowers volume 36 appears in June, which concludes the series. No volume 37 (a short story collection) is scheduled for August, which doesn't necessarily mean Viz won't be releasing it, of course, but it won't be continuing the bimonthly schedule.

I'm not familiar with the rest except the ones that are sequels to series I wasn't interested in to begin with.

Definitely Ooku, WaqWaq and DMC! Probably Children of the Sea and Gestalt.

Waqwaq, huh? I guess the Hoshin Engi manga has done really well for them, I guess.

^-- The December issue of Shojo Beat magazine mentioned this in its two-page upcoming Shojo Beat imprint releases advertisement. It's scheduled for a June 2009 debut according to the ad.

I knew that Kimi ni Todoke cover was really familiar. Turns out, it's an award-winner.

(Oh, and HitokiriShadow, did you ever check out Solanin? Response has been great on ANN, but I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of attention given here on AoD since it came out.)

My feelings exactly. And considering the $13 price tag it looks like it should be in the same format as their release of Black Lagoon. Hopefully they also get the releases out just as fast, too. ^_^
