I could deal with excluding Jojo's Bizarre Adventure if you hadn't included a book by Kia Asamiya.

The easiest way to narrow down the list was to exclude shonen titles, especially since by the qualifiers I used, most shonen don't have the same level of 'adult situations' as seinen. So Jojo's was never on my radar for this list. Sorry.

I only considered series that are still being released in the US. Wasn't City Hunter released by Studio Ironcat or some other defunct publisher?

I would have dumped either the Kia Asimiya or Path of the Assassin in favor of Fumimura and Ikegami's political/crime thriller, Sanctuary.

I suppose "still being released" is the operative phrase here since Sanctuary is out of print. I think Viz released this flipped. Still great.

I'm a woman who loves manly seinen manga, so many of these I already knew about or have been collecting. Somehow, though, I'd never managed to learn what Old Boy is about before now. It sounds phenomenal! Gonna order volume 1 on Friday (payday).

That's great! I was hoping this would open people up to some older titles that are still being published.

Good concept, good execution. I especially like that you went outside the obvious to include Planetes and Real. Now I want to read those more than I already did. (I'm sure the others are good of their kind, but they're not my thing at all.) Well done.

I've been wanting to read OLD BOY. I might get into BLACK LAGOON for the simple reason I love the anime. I read CRYING FREEMAN when it was reprinted comic form back in the 80's. Yeah, I'm that old....:[
