Baccano? Yes! Maybe I helped a little in getting the series since I sent them a request for it. Or maybe not. Either way, I'm glad to see it on the roster. *goes to add Baccano to rental queue*

Rather than stare at them in my queue for (possibly) weeks, I'm going to try to forget that they're out and revisit them in a few months. I don't want a repeat of Darker than Black: it was stuck in my queue so long that I couldn't hold out another second and ended up buying the damn thing (not that I regret the purchase ).

I have titles in my queue that have been in there for MONTHS and a few that have been in there for over two years. Most of the "long wait" and unreleased titles just get placed at the tippy-top of the queue. Then, I just sort of forget about them, since Netflix will just send everything below those titles that are available.

Anyone else disappointed with the new Blu-ray policy? I can see the reasoning behind increasing it from $1 to $2 or even $3, but $4 is harsh.

I may not have minded so much if it weren't remembering that any Blu-rays I had in the queue seemed to be stuck in "Very Long Wait" mode - nothing like paying for a feature you don't get to use (that's what led me to turn off the Blu-Ray option in my queue back when they first added the $1/month charge).

Yeah, that is a bit of a problem sometimes too. I think I am going to turn off the Blu-Ray option, but at this point it is a matter of waiting for the last disc/episode of Freedom to finally come in. I'd hate to leave myself hanging until a good sale rolls around.

I wonder if that extra $4 ensures that the Blu-rays don't arrive scratched and near-shattered to high heaven? I've heard nothing but horror stories from many Netlfix members about Blu-ray after Blu-ray after Blu-ray arriving at their homes in unplayable conditions.

Have any Blu-ray renters here experienced similar pain and suffering?

So far, so good with respect to quality control issues.

I'm also bummed about the new BR fee policy. Since anime DVDs still comprise the overwhelming majority of my rentals, I'll probably turn off the BR option most months. Every now and then, I'll turn it back on for a month and bunch up BR rentals for those periods.

While I don't do Netflix, that seems to be a rather bizarre situation...

The coating on the discs should prevent scratching, and if it was a mail-machine doing the damage, you should see the DVD's displaying the same issues.

I wonder if it has to do with idiots ordering BR discs, thinking that they can be played in their DVD player (or HD-DVD players they bought at firesale prices), then finding out they can't, and taking their frustration out on the discs before shipping them back...?

A $4 fee would certainly dissuade those inclined to make mistakes like that from ordering the discs to begin with.
