So is mine, and I preordered pretty much the second it went up on YesAsia.

Ah, nice to know and I'm proud to be part of that. Or perhaps not. Which begs the question. Does day one include all units that were pre-ordered or only the ones that shipped out. Mine which is just the RE won't be shipping until November.

I think it depends on the company you're buying it from and how they report it to Oricon. My guess is that if they haven't charged you, they don't report it to Oricon (because you could conceivably still cancel the order), but that's just a guess.

Damn, still not show that it shipped yet.

Default Sales - Houkago Tea Time II

[2010-12-14 edit: Didn't want to bump the thread just for this but I wanted to get it down in writing so I know where to look if someone asks in the future.

Charted again in the week of Dec 6-12
82, *2,030 182,468 K-ON!! "Houkago Teatime II"

So it's at 182k as of this point. Now I think that just includes weeks it charted. there will probably be a year end chart with corrections for a more complete number.]

---

http://yunakiti.blog79.fc2.com/blog-entry-7028.html

As already mentioned... yeah wow. 55,325 in a single day does, I'm pretty sure, blow away any previous first day sales for any K-ON! CD release.

Comparison to HTT I:
Code:
    HTT HTT2
―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
月 **,*** **,***
火 23,145 55,325
水 16,498 **,***
木 *7,844 **,***
金 *6,389 **,***
土 *6,718 **,***
日 *4,545 **,***
―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
計 65,139 55,325
補 x1.02 x1.**
週 66,820 **,***
Previous first day sales record for K-ON! was !!'s 2nd OP and ED:
*2 *28,916 放課後ティータイム No,Thank You!
*3 *28,172 放課後ティータイム Utauyo!! MIRACLE

So HTT II has essentially doubled the first day sales of any prior K-ON! music release. Now granted I expect these numbers to be very front-loaded. It's going to drop quite a lot after the first week. But I guess that depends on how many people can't buy it yet because it's sold out near them and will end up buying it later.

NTY and Utauyo did 85-87k first week, until now the best first week sales. No matter how front-loaded HTT II sales are there's no doubt this should beat that.

Whoever gets a cassette, congratulations. There may be as little as 15,000 tapes made. If this album gets cetified gold or even platinum, you have something really valuable!

Being charged if that means having your card charged wouldn't apply in my case. In my case, it's a CD Japan order paid for by IPMO and they've already received the IMPO and thus it's in the processing stage.

Default K-ON! OST impressions

I bought these in that K-ON! music binge a month ago, and finally listened to all three through in the past few weeks. I'd initially only bought them because it was K-ON!, not because I particularly anticipated listening to them much. K-ON! is a fairly lighthearted show, with appropriately matched music. And when I listen to OSTs, I tend to prefer slower, heavier, weightier tracks. Totally fine with bubbly pop when it comes to vocals though.

To my surprise there's actually a fair bit of that sort of heavier stuff on here; it's just easy to miss when watching the show I guess. There are a lot of variants of the next episode preview music, which isn't bad since it's a nice basic melody. And even the more lighthearted tracks feel well put together, so it made for some enjoyable listening.

At the end of each volume of !!'s two OST are some especially noteworthy tracks, for one reason or another.

Vol. 1 - Track 19 - Amefuri is the song from episode six that Yui (Toyosaki Aki) and Ui (Yonezawa Madoka) sing together at home on a rainy day.
Vol. 1 - Track 20 - Usagi to Kami is just hilarious. It's young, young Yui singing a song to a turtle in episode eight. But this one is a full 2:46 and Toyosaki absolutely pulls out her best "sloshed kindergartner" voice and oh god it's terrible, but that's why it's so good. She sings terribly, perfectly!
Vol. 2 - Track 17 - U&I ~Yuuhi no Kireina ano Oka~, obviously a variant on U&I, plays during the gorgeous emotional release scene from episode 20. I get so worked up at the 1:00 mark. ;_;
Vol. 2 - Track 18 - Unjou no Chaya comes up during Azusa's breakdown in episode 24. A more upbeat song than you'd really expect there but it's nice.
Vol. 2 - Track 19 - Fudepen ~Ballpen~ [YuiAzu version] is the YuiAzu combo at the neighborhood talent show! I knew something was missing from my life.
Vol. 2 - Track 20 - Sakuragaoka Joshi Koutou Gakkou Kouka is the school song. Except this time it's sung by... the 3-2 and 2-1 extras! <3

About to give HTT II a listen through (no idea when the disc will be in hand... damn slow shipping), not yet sure if I'll post on that tonight.

You need to get a tape player and listen to it the way it was meant to be heard!

In the car cassette player? Or with a walkman?

This is the first time in my life I actually wished my car had one... I'd need to go for a drive for an hour just to listen to it. Actually I hate driving so that wouldn't be the best way to experience it really...

Anyway about to start going through the studio mix first.
