Default Tokyopop Titles Release Dates Slipping

Has anybody noticed that some of TP's titles have slipped in terms of release dates? The ones in question are Elemental Gelade Volume 11, Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase Volume 13, Samurai Deeper Kyo Volume 35, and GetBackers: Infinity Fortress Volume 3. I bought them from Amazon and lists them as temporary out of stock. I have some them that supposed to ship in the next ferw days.

Does anybody know the new release dates for these titles. I tend to try to reduce that amount of TP titles I'm adding aside from these plus Gakuen Alice manga I looking to add to my manga collection.

Tokyopop is, frankly, scrambling to stay alive. I'm not surprised their dates are slipping. It doesn't help that whenever a title slips, people say "Well, I'll never buy from them again!", which doesn't really help future titles from slipping.

I do note that a title formerly in 'hiatus limbo', Hakusensha's VB Rose, will now have Vol. 6 come out in October 2009, according to their Twitter feed. So hiatus is not necessarily the end.

*fingers crossed* Chibi-Vampire 14, PLEASE be released... it would suck to get so close to the end of a series, and the final volume to be cancelled, or delayed until the company goes under

As Chibi-Vampire is consistently a top seller for them, I doubt you have much to worry about unless the entire company collapses after Fruits Basket ends.

Now that you mention it, I have a TRSI order that's just sitting there not getting processed:

Get Backers Infinity Fortress 3
Initial D 34
Tactics 8

On my order detail page there are no longer release dates listed, not even 12/12/12. When I searched in TRSI's catalog for those titles, they don't even show up, totally deleted. What the heck....

Also keeping fingers crossed on Chibi Vampire...hoping they will go forward with it because of its selling status, but also remembering they dropped the novels

I think comparing the manga to the novels is a little like apples to oranges. I don't recall ever hearing anything about the novels selling particularly well, and many of the novel adaptations of series have disappeared-Shana and FMP to name two (I seem to recall reading there were other issues with Scrapped Princess and Kino but maybe sales factored in here to). Who knows, licensing deals plus the amount of work needed to translate novel vs manga may have left them a smaller profit margin on the novel side.

Plus Chibi Vampire is just 1 Vol away from ending. I agree with a previous post that Karin 14 ( TP ) will probably be released unless TP as a whole bits the big one. If they can't finish a series that seems to be a decent seller (though I haven't seen numbers so that may be speculation) than who is going to buy any thing other than Fruits Basket from them? It would be one giant red flag waved at a group of consumers who are already skittish.
