Has anyone else noticed that the October - January solicitations have the prices increased on there Shonen Jump and Shoujo Beat titles to 9.99 from 7.99 and 8.99 respectively. This is a big slap in the face to me as I collect so many titles. Are shonen jump sales so low that they are required to increase prices? I will only support this increase if means an increase in quality and no censorship of any kind. Thoughts?

Well, with price increases on seemingly everything these days this is not surprising. Plus this doesn't make them the most expensive books on the market (you could make the argument it catches them up with TP's 2002 prices.
) If the choice was to raise the price or cut content (or both) I'll take this option. I'm not thrilled, but this is the way things work in the world.

Not to come across too snide, but if this is how you react to a $1-2 increase in the price of a cheap entertainment product, I'm afraid that life in the real world economy of the next 10 years is going to be really painful for you.

When I buy 30+ titles a month $1-2 adds up.

You forgot Del Rey, who also recently did price hikes. Personally, these price hicks are livable!

I wouldn't mind a few color pages every once in a while for an extra $2.

Considering the state of the economy this really should not come as a surprise...

These imprints have been at their current price for, what a bit over 5 years? I can't think of much else that has held it's ground price wise over that span (well, Anime DVD SRPs for the most part). Regular books prices have risen quite a bit over the same time frame.
And they are still cheaper than the slightly larger in page size (but not always content) books Viz put out in the late 90's till the current format. I have a decent collection of $15.99 books from them...

I was surprised that Viz had kept their Shojo Beat prices at $8.99 for as long as they had. As this is still significantly cheaper than the price hikes at the local movie theatre or the gas I would use to take a vacation, I think manga will still be my entertainment splurge each month.
