Wow... I just facepalmed. Hard.

Somebody licensed that monstrous disaster from BeeTrain?

Keep in mind this listing is preliminary. I'm assuming that there will be more (if that's saying much).

Yes. Not even hardcore fans of the manga liked it. It's easily one of the worst anime series in recent years to a good portion of the interwebs, more so because the animation quality is BeeTrain's usual quality.

It'll attract a few, but I wouldn't expect it be a big hit for them.

Well, my friend is a big fan of BotI, and he has mixed feelings on the anime: It's pretty accurate to the manga, which he was happy to see, but he felt that Bee Train just wasn't the right studio for the title.

It's one of those bittersweet titles: It's handled with respect to the original manga, but the overall product is just lackluster. Anyway, I knew that the Blade of the Immortal anime would get licensed, but the fact that Media Blasters picked it up surprises me.

But... John Sirabella did say that he had a big title to unveil soon, and I'm going to guess that this is going to be Media Blasters' big title for 2009. Even though it's a lackluster adaptation, it is based on a very popular manga and will, without a doubt, be a big seller for MB. By far this title will be dubbed, which the price point easily indicates (5 episodes for $30), and will be a 3 DVD release (5-4-4 style most likely).

Nothing. I think I'm entirely dry on MB once I pick up Doujin Work. Off the top of my head I can't recall anything else they have that I'll be buying.

R1 really is just a Bandai, Funi and Nozomi market for me now. With a grudging smidge of Viz (HxH, H&C eventually)

I find the internet difficult to judge on BotI - a lot of people simply hate Bee Train, so it was difficult to find dispassionate critiques of the series...

I rather like Bee Train, heck I even thought Avenger of all things was worth watching and buying, but BotI just fell all kinds of flat. And I haven't read the manga so I'm not comparing it to that either. Of course, I can't claim to have a perfectly informed opinion when I only watched two episodes (though that's also all I could really stand), so take my comments with a big grain of salt.
