I wonder if part of the problem might be the structure of the show. Don't get me wrong. The one or in this case two episodes per girl format can be interesting sometimes.
The problem is that if the anime staff doesn't know what they're doing, you end up with what is essentially a rushed mini-story that's more or less a shadow of what it could have been. That, and it's often the luck of the draw. You have to hope the girl being focused on is one of the better ones. Yes, I do realize that in the case of some series being the best girl of the bunch isn't saying much. In any case, I've experienced a lot worse than this series. Then again I've also experienced a lot better. I guess that's the best way for me to put it right now.
