This is pretty exciting. Lain is a combination of traditional film animation, CG and even some 2D digital animation from the SD era, so I'm curious how good a mixed media title like this will look on Blu-ray.

Me want!!!

I'm not sure how Lain was completed, but hopefully they'll be able to go back to the source for the film parts. The previous master had some serious and really annoying ringing/ripple artifacts on the sides of the screen.

And many of the digitally animated parts looked rubbish even in SD (particularly because it would suddenly change to bright, garish colours), so I wonder if they would care to redo them? I don't think there were that many, and most were fairly static.

A show like this deserves, (in my mind) a complete remaster. Yeah I know it's not a DBZ or a fist of the north star or something, and it's even pretty recent, but it's just such an incredibly timeless show for being "near future" sci-fi.

It's a really rare piece of art that gets MORE relevant with age. One could say lain predicted a lot of things that ended up happening on the internet.

I'd probably end up buying this, but I highly doubt they would do a remaster and as such the video quality probably wouldn't be that much better than the original.

I know that, but I just really love the show. I bet recreating the digital effects wouldn't be too hard with "present day, present time" technology... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-

The show is 11 years old. It was pretty good at the time, though I say that not having watched it lately. It might have been one of Pioneer's earliest DVD releases, during or after the release of Battle Athletes.

With the work needed to remaster Lain properly into HD, it might as well be a total remake.
