Default Recently mature anime

Are their any new mature or adult-themed anime coming out. I noticed that most anime this season are non-adult. Or is their a decrease in mature anime being made?

Monster ? It's currently airing on the SyFy channel.

Ergo Proxy was recently released on DVD. That's a mature series. It's very good too, well worth a watch.

The Sky Crawlers This is a movie that was very intellegent, very well crafted, and pretty deep too. A refreshing mature movie, but some complain about the paceing. Personally found it very well paced, but YMMV on this one in regards to the pacing I guess. One of my new favorite movies though, soo...

Nana is currently being released by Viz Media. It was aimed at an older female crowd. I'm totally digging it too, and I'm a dude. Great show.

Black Lagoon This is a mature series, although not in a refined way or anything. But it doesn't hold back either. Very dark, very cool, and very fun. A little disturbing too...

Honey and Clover was aimed at a much older female audience then what's average for TV anime. I think this is an important series to mention. But from the first episode I can say I did not like it much at all... But it has quite a following so it's worth looking into.

And of course there are a few others as well. It would be helpful in knowing what type of mature series you seek. Something along the lines of Witch Hunter Robin or more like Now and Then, Here and There? Something like Cowboy Bebop or Gantz? Kino's Journey or Ghost in the Shell: SAC? "Mature" can be a little vague at times.

But to answer your question, yes I think there is a tend of less mature titles being made. But to be completely fair there never was that many being made at any point in time really. The economy and terrible condition of the anime industry in particle are to blame. Why make something original, costly, and different, and probally lose money, when you can cash in on the newest cliche?

Actually, most anime this season are intended for adults. Just otaku adults. Like basically every season. For example, Saki, a show from spring, had an intended demographic of 30-40.

I believe you're looking for anime that appeal to "Western tastes." In which case, yes studios do not tend to make much of that any more because no one buys it in Japan and anime doesn't sell well here either.

Shigurui is one such title. It is definitely not for the faint of heart. When the least violent scene is seeing somebody's stomach being ripped out, then you know you are in for a bloodfest.

It's time to graduate from here. But there's still some business left.
The only thing better than anime is sports. Get hit hard and you got JACKED UP! Or else it's a C'mon Man!

hmmm I have no idea how they'd make a second season of Kuroshitsuji, but maybe it's like FMA brotherhood the same series just based more off the manga?

Anyways I recommend

Black Lagoon s1&2- Action, guns, violence, pirates, and kick ass chicks, and the character design and development is great.
Baccano! - Gorey, but a hell of a ride.
Gankutsuou- It has mature themes.

Thats all I got at least for my tastes.

To echo what Prede said, check out Ergo Proxy and Monster. Both shows are excellent and intended for older audiences.

I know very little about it, but Rin: Daughers of Mnemosyne is coming out early next year. It's apparently about a femme fatale detective and takes place in various periods over a hundred years. Really looking forward to it, and I hope it's really good.

If this is true, definitely check out Gankutsuou, if you haven't already. It's an adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo (but with its own twists), so it's rather different from most anime. The pacing is notably different.

Like others said Black Lagoon and Gankutsuou for sure. Don't know how far back you want to go, but Darker than Black was pretty good as was Claymore. I also enjoyed Nabari no Ou.
