Thanks for the write-up! Nice to see at least a brief reason as to why we don't have the Japanese audio track.

And what's really interesting is that those volumes do contain the English dub, the Japanese dub and the Korean dub, but no English subtitles.
It's too bad we couldn't have gotten that here. As the idea of a Korean dub on top of the other two could have been interesting.

Hopefully someday the Japanese licensor will relent and fix this because otherwise I suspect that Kurokami will sell about the same here in the US as it is in Japan.
Part of me wonders if they actually want the release to do poorly... Still who knows? Even assuming Bandai has no random delays between now and then, there's still time before the release comes out. Maybe things could change for the better or more likely get worse...

I didn't think that it would sell that badly, and even more surprising is the fact that they had all three audio tracks.

The surprise factor of the three language tracks lessens when you realize they were in existence as the series aired.

Then again, I didn't think that people in Japan would watch their anime in any other language since they want to hear things in their own language and that they don't have access to it.

Kinda makes me wonder why Bandai licensed it in the first place if they knew this was going to happen, unless Bandai Japan forced them to, in which case Japan just comes off looking even worse in this case. Bandai USA is struggling as it is, they don't need Japan pushing them closer to that cliff.

It doesn't help that the release of Kurokami has taken forever. I'm really worried this release will be too much for Bandai. Hopefully they can at least finish the release of Gundam 00, Code Geass R2, and Hayate before anything serious happens.

You have seen that Japanese Blu-ray does often have the English audio right? As someone (Buster Darkwings I think) pointed out in the BD section some Japanese fans enjoy hearing other voice tracks-much like not all US fans listen in English since that is many's "own language."

Some Japanese fans make most "obsessive R1 fans" look tame. Look at the amount of stuff they will collect from a single series or the lengths they will go to for rare pack in items and you shouldn't be surprised that they would also want every audio for it they can get.

Also English is not an uncommon thing in Japan and even Korean dramas got popular (at least for a while, I don't know if the Korean social/potitical thing that happened has dampened that).

I remember reading about the Japanese fans who were speculating on an ADV cast for Clannad... with a very good awareness of the English vocal talent.

And there was that one thread (I think in the "General Anime" section) about Japanese fans' thoughts on English dubs. IIRC, many were very pleased with the Lucky Star dub.
