[Manga] Maid War Chronicle Vol. #1 Review
Review by Matthew Warner
Mania Grade: B+

In Summary:
The plot of this book does move at a decent pace and has hints of a deeper plot of military intrigue, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the scale to which the end of the book raises things. The characters, however, are on a whole far too one dimensional. The prince’s perversion knows no bounds and accounts for most of his character, which works sometimes but can also get a little annoying. Cacao is easily the most fleshed out character, being a strict, miserly character torn between doing what is logical and helping out her fellow maids. Mint is a rather simple “ridiculously smart girl with glasses,” and always has her nose in a book, but her past with Martini could easily allow her to develop into someone much more interesting. The rest of the characters show little to no depth in this volume. Vanilla is a klutzy, cute girl, Bana is a wild jungle girl, and Cogna and Liqueur do absolutely nothing to show even a hint of personality throughout the volume. Hopefully in the next volume these characters will gain a little more depth, as this title certainly has the potential to develop into something other than maid-based eye candy.
